Kathleen attended the Art Institute of Atlanta for Graphic Design in 1981, but was discouraged by the tight regimen and expectations. She walked away from painting, her desire to create was extinguished.  She hid her talent deep inside for thirteen years. 

Kathleen satisfied her artistic spirit by surrounding her life with the beauty of visionary and self-taught art.  She filled the empty cup in her heart with inspiration, advice, and encouragement given by many outsider artists she admired.  Finally it came down to one memorable conversation with the Reverend Howard Finster.  He looked her in the eye, and told her in a scolding tone, to "Just play with the paint! God will do the rest.” 

Kathleen's rebirth into the art world was driven by her obsession with color. Her motifs of flowers, fish and roosters allow her to create endless, mood enhancing, color combinations.  "It just makes people happy!"  She thrives on a playful approach to color, adding whimsy with her use of sculpted bottled caps.  Several admirers of her work have thanked her for introducing a fresh enjoyment of color that they had somehow lost in their structured and rule abiding adult lives.

Kathleen's paintings are avidly collected throughout the United States and around the world including Canada, Ireland, England and Australia. Kathleen's high impact paintings may also be seen in set designs for Campbell Soup Commercials.
