Judy was born and raised in Alabama. When ask about her art she says: "Sometimes God calms the storm and sometimes he just calms us."  For Judy, God gave her the desire to paint to calm her when she needed it most.

During a time in her life Judy describes as "Dark" she and a friend were out. When asked by her friend what she was going to do that evening Judy replied, " I am going to go home and paint a picture."  Judy's reply surprised herself as much as her friend since she had never even held a paintbrush other than the kind you paint the walls with.  She says, " I really don't know why I said it or where the thought came from, I just wanted to do something cheerful."  

When she got to the store, she didn't even know what to buy.  She ended up buying a piece of canvas and stretching it over a frame herself.  Then she painted the brightest most cheerful house you could imagine. 'There wasn't a single door or window that wasn't crooked.' She said, trying to critique her piece.   She used the paint right out of the tube. (Mixing it didn't even occur to her since you don't mix house paint). " I think I wanted to make myself a happy place.  I wanted to run the darkness out of my life by saturating myself in color".  

And it worked.  Judy started building that "happy place" one painting at a time. Whether it's a snorkeling snail or a sunbathing mermaid or three little old ladies giggling over tea, she finds a humorous angle to spotlight.  Now Judy would like to share her happiness with you.  She hopes they will help calm your spirits and chase out the darkness from your day.
