Jennings lived with his mother in Pinnacle, North Carolina until her death in 1974. Being a schoolteacher, Mrs. Jennings tutored her son from grade 5 on. James Harold Jennings is extremely well-known and was famous for his wooden constructions. Some of his common themes were: indian figures, Elvis, angels, women depicted beating up men or the devil, and Ferris wheels. Most of his artwork is very bright and colorful and is uplifting to the spirit. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions.
