Outsider Artist Alyne Harris

	Alyne is completely self-taught, and supports herself by working as a housekeeper. Early forays into painting included using natural elements such as mud, but acrylics on canvas or canvas board is the medium of choice for her now. She uses just about every tool imaginable to dab paint on canvas: fingertips, sticks putty knives, and occasionally even a paintbrush. Alyne's imagination is fertile and she paints with great enthusiasm. Religious and social themes flow throughout her body of work. She loves to paint devils and angels, choirs and churches, black family and and "slave life", birds, bees and flowers.
Alyne has loved angels since childhood and has painted them all her life. Her angel paintings are highly collected and have made their way into some of the most prestigious collections in the United States and abroad. Alyne also likes to paint cats, bees, flowers (sunflowers the most) as well as birds. African Americans are often subjects in her paintings..
	Her neighbors, arts communities and the local college are drawn to her work as well as her strong beliefs. Encouraged by fans and casual followers, her gift as an artist as grown over the years. She does not name her work.
Painting starts for Alyne after she finishes her daily job as a housekeeper. Most of her work is done at night. She begins each piece by fully visualizing it in her mind, then Alyne begins her work and does not stop until she is finished with the piece. The process then starts again.
